Michael Liani’s photographs are deeply personal and strive to bring forth the humanity of his subjects. His work deals with the central and the peripheral, and with the gender and aesthetics of media. Coming from Jewish Moroccan descent, his works - and the work “Yehuda” in particular – examine Jewish Sephardic masculinity and gender identity. His work has been exhibited at the UCLA Biennial, the Moscow International Biennale for Young Art, Hansen House (supported by the Israel Museum), and Herzliya Museum of Contemporary Art, among other institutions.
